Alabaster Offering

The Alabaster Offering is a global tradition in the Church of the Nazarene.

There is a story in the Bible about a woman who poured perfume from an alabaster jar onto Jesus. We use the term for a special offering we collect that helps support missionary buildings - churches, schools, hospitals, and houses. People pour out their coins like the woman poured out her perfume. These days we ask that you use paper or digital money instead of coins, but the sentiment is the same.

While we understand the church consists of the people of God and not a building, buildings enhance ministry efforts and convey an attitude that the Church of the Nazarene intends to "put down roots."  Alabaster funds help provide land for many Work & Witness projects, and the entire Alabaster Offering goes toward the purchase of land and the construction of churches, schools, medical facilities, and homes for missionaries and national workers.
